IJCC Annual Business Dinner
The IJCC held its annual business dinner on 19 June at the Grand Hyatt
Hotel, Tokyo. This year's guest of honour was Minister Eamon Ryan T.D.,
Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, who delivered
a keynote address on the Irish economy, Ireland-Japan collaboration in
the field of ICT and Irish innovation in energy conservation to combat
the effects of climate change. The Minister was visiting Japan to
promote Ireland-Japan business links and cooperation in the areas of ICT
and climate change and earlier in the day met with Japanese Minister for
the Interior and Communications, Hiroya Masuda. After his speech the
Minister answered questions from the floor and mingled with Chamber
members and their guests. The highlight of the IJCC's calendar, the
evening was attended by 100 Japanese and Irish business figures who
enjoyed an Irish-themed meal prepared by the Hotel's chef. Guests were
also able to enjoy an exhibition on the historic links between Ireland
and Japan which stretch back to the Edo period.
